Linda works at TOH as the Director of Quality and Patient Safety. This is a corporate position that holds responsibility for corporate quality programs, TOH Quality Plan, all patient safety issues and programs, accreditation, policies and procedures, and patient satisfaction. Linda is also the Co-Director of the Centre for Patient Safety at TOH.
Linda Hunter has been an Associate Director, Health Networks and a Director of Research for a Primary Health Care Transition Funded national project – Enhancing Interdisciplinary Collaboration in Primary Health Care (EICP), both at the Conference Board of Canada. She has over 20 years experience in the acute care and community environments working with both pediatric and adult populations.
Linda has worked at Accreditation Canada in charge of national projects looking at setting up standards of excellence in diverse health sector areas, including hospice and palliative care, child welfare, quality of work life environments, and First Nations and Inuit community health and addictions centres.
Linda has extensive experience in health projects, health professional education, and facilitation. She is widely recognized for her leadership in the nursing and health care fields, proficiency in program management across the continuum of care in the health care sector, and cultural care of the Canadian Aboriginal population.
Linda has authored peer-reviewed publications associated with the provision of quality care, communications amongst diverse health professional groups, and research work related to Aboriginal healing traditions. Linda has conducted research in health care in the areas of: change management processes related to health professional collaboration, tools for accreditation success, cardiology and cardiac surgery, Aboriginal traditional healing, and use of EMR uptake.
Linda’s educational background includes a diploma in nursing (1984), a BScN (Magna Cum Laude, 1993), and an MScN (2003) from the University of Ottawa. Linda sat as a Board Member for the Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario.
