Theme:Collaboration, Innovation and Excellence
Canada Aviation & Space Museum, Tuesday, February 7th, 2012
Ottawa’s premier learning and networking event for those engaged in public sector excellence, the 2012 event will be another of tremendous value for participant’s – especially in these difficult economic times when professional development funds are at a premium and travel very limited. Participants will be able to learn and share leading practices with colleagues from the Federal, Provincial & Territorial, Municipal Governments and the broader public sector.
The Ottawa Public Sector Quality Fair: An Excellent Learning Opportunity
Our 2011 Ottawa Public Sector Quality Fair was a tremendous success. From the Opening Keynote address by Denise Amyot, President and CEO, Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation to the Closing Keynote Speaker, The Honourable Stockwell Day, President of the Treasury Board and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, a good cross-section of the public sector was informed and had an excellent opportunity to network with others.
A Feedback Report has been prepared from the forms submitted by attendees and exhibitors. Please follow this link to the Report for the 2011 event. In addition, we prepared a Gallery with photos taken during our 2011 “Fair” that can be accessed by clicking on the Gallery button on the top menu. In the coming weeks there will be a similar report for our 2012 event and photos will be added to the Gallery. To view the presentations made at our 2012 event, please click on this graphic which will open our Program page. Then go to the Presentation entries in the appropriate block.
The 2012 Ottawa Public Sector Quality Fair, brought to you by the Canadian Public Sector Quality Association (CPSQA) and Excellence Canada (formerly the National Quality Institute (NQI)), delivered an interactive, informative and meaningful experience for all who attended. Your Committee of volunteers built a Program for our Sixth Annual “Fair” that we proved to be a meaningful experience for all. We were pleased to be able to showcase experts from a variety of government organizations.
Joint CPSQA-Excellence Canada Public Sector Excellence Lifetime Award.
The organizing Committee for our 2012 event are pleased to announce the winner of our 2012 Award. Angela Coke, Associate Deputy Minister, HROntario and Chair, Public Service Commission, Ontario Ministry of Government Services received the Award during the Luncheon break. Candidates for this award are living role models in their fields during their performance of service in the Public Interest who hold or have held organizational or business leadership roles in the Public Service Sector and have achieved significant milestones in quality, excellence or in creating a healthy work place. We were delighted to be able to present this Award to Ms. Coke and to hear her comments during the ceremony.
Training and Development Opportunity
Those attending our 2012 event were aware that we were offering a training and development opportunity. Ours was not a conference but rather an interactive learning opportunity from which attendees were able to take away valuable information to be applied in their workplaces. More change and challenge is coming as the Public Service Renewal and Administrative Renewal initiatives get underway. However, many individuals do not see that their life is getting easier and better. Our 2012 “Fair” once again provided tips, tools and interactive panel discussions that helped attendees to meet these challenges.
And it was a fabulous value too! The Fair price included a light breakfast, a nutritious lunch and two refreshment breaks. Attendees were able to hear from our Opening Keynote Speaker Treasury Board President Tony Clement, followed by a panel discussion. There were then a total of six professional development sessions, three in the morning and three in the afternoon. There was also an opportunity to interact with exhibitors providing attendees with information pertinent to public sector staff. Finally, we all very much enjoyed some very positive comments from our Closing Keynote Speaker, Chief Vern White of the Ottawa Police Service. We all wish him well in his new role as a Member of the Senate of Canada toward the end of February. With a strong team from CPSQA and Excellence Canada making up the Committee organizing this event, attendees were able to look forward to a full day of real value. It clearly was well worth the expense in budget dollars and time to join us. We are convinced our registrants were not disappointed. Anyone who has attended previous “Fairs” will be able to tell their colleagues and friends about this great opportunity. We again offered a group rate where paying for four attendees allowed five to attend.. Supporters and Quality Partners
As in the past, we looked for Supporters and Quality Partners to help provide funding in order that we could keep our registration fee as low as possible. Not only was there an opportunity to attend all our activities, but also Supporters and Quality Partners were visible on our website and acknowledged at our event.
