In the late 1990’s, volunteers in the National Capital Region organized the Ottawa Public Sector Quality Fair. After two events, the “show” moved to Toronto and became the Public Sector Quality Fair. The early Fall of 2006 saw some of the same volunteers with some new help decided to bring the Ottawa Fair out of hiatus. In February, the first of a series of annual events was held – co-hosted by CPSQA and the National Quality Institute. The degree of success allowed planners to decide to continue the annual events.
At the end of October, 2013, discussions with Excellence Canada (the re-branded National Quality Institute) resulted in CPSQA becoming the sole host of the annual Fair with Excellence Canada a Platinum Supporter. The 2014 event – another success – demonstrated CPSQA was up to the task with the results speaking for themselves.
