Speaker: Ron Tessier, Team Leader, Registration Service Quality, Canadian General Standards Board.
Background: Ron joined QSD in June 1996 as Program Officer and is now the Team Leader, Registration Service Quality. Mr. Tessier joined CGSB/CAD as Program Manager in 1992 and was responsible for the program development/implementation and maintenance for Qualification and Certification Programs in the construction materials area. He has implemented a computerized system for tracking revenue generation, earning a Certificate of Achievement from the Assistant Deputy Minister. Mr. Tessier was employed as a Plant Manager for Armstrong World Industries Canada Ltd., Gatineau (Que.) from 1985 to 1991 and Plant Manager for Canexel Inc., Gatineau (Que.), a division of Canadian International Paper from 1980 to 1985. Duties such as Plant Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Fabrication Superintendent, and Production Superintendent, and Production Superintendent were performed by Mr. Tessier at Masonite Canada Ltd., (division of Canadian International Paper) from 1974 to 1980. At Domtar Construction Materials Ltd. he was the Production Superintendent, Project Engineer and Research and Development Technologist from 1968 to 1974. Some of his special expertise is in Strategic Planning/Quality Management implementation; Management Systems and Business Management.
Abstract: This was a hands-on session with the aim of showing attendees how to do a gap analysis. Based on the ISO 9000:2000 standard, Members and visitors saw how to assess the status of a quality management system. Ron showed his listeners the ISO 9000:2000 actual requirements and the corresponding CGSB audit checks. He provided them with a copy of the CGSB Check List and explained how to use it. Attendees not only had a take home document, but also learned how to use it in your organization.
